Janmashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Krishna’s birth symbolizes the triumph of good over evil and the advent of divine joy, love, and wisdom in the world.

It is observed on the Ashtami Tithi (eighth day) of the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the moon) in the month of Bhadrapada (August–September).
